
Course Overview
This course is aimed at employees that have been nominated as a Fire Marshal/Warden. All companies are required to have designated staff trained as Fire Marshals/Warden to assist the business in providing a working environment which is safe from fire. This course will give candidates knowledge on how they can prevent a fire from happening, a clear understanding of their responsibilities, duties and role as a Fire Warden/Marshal and what to do in a fire situation. Candidates will also receive practical extinguisher training using our live fire simulator.
Under the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005:
“You must have a sufficient number of competent people to perform evacuation duties. All staff identified in your emergency plan that have a supervisory role if there is a fire (i.e. heads of department, fire marshals or wardens) should be given details of your fire risk assessment and receive more comprehensive training.”

- Action to take in the event of a fire
- Overview of current fire legislation
- Chemistry of combustion
- How fire starts and how to minimise the risk of a fire starting
- How fire can spread
- Consequences of a fire in the workplace
- Human behaviour in fire
- Types of extinguishers and fire classification
- Correct and safe use of an extinguisher
- At the end of the course there will be a short multiple choice test

On completion of the course candidates will receive both a course handout and an in-house certificate which will be valid for 3 years.
