
Course Overview
By attending this course candidates will gain a general knowledge on legislation (The Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005), what to do in the event of a fire situation, how a fire can start and the speed at which it can spread. Delegates will also get to experience our live fire training simulator, where they will get the chance to tackle a fire with a range of portable hand held extinguishers.
Under the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005:
“Employers must ensure that all employees are provided with adequate safety training at the time they are first employed and repeated periodically where appropriate. Training should include suitable and sufficient instruction and training on the appropriate precautions and actions to be taken by the employee in order to safeguard himself and other relevant persons on the premises.”
Syllabus:
- Employees safety duties under the law
- Chemistry of combustion
- How fire starts and how to minimise the risk of a fire starting
- How fire can spread
- Consequences of a fire in the workplace
- What procedures to take on discovering a fire
- Types of extinguishers and fire classification
- Correct and safe use of an extinguisher
- At the end of the course there will be a short multiple choice test
