
Course Overview
The occupational use of hazardous substances is regulated under the Control of Substances Hazardous to Health 2002 (COSHH). COSHH is the law that requires employers to control substances that are hazardous to health. We will ensure all attendees are fully aware of the importance of complying with legislation including; safe handling techniques, COSHH risk assessments and correct storage.
Syllabus:
- An overview of COSHH Regulations & relevant legislation
- How ill health and injuries occur
- The body and how it can become contaminated
- Introduction and basic understanding of COSHH risk assessments
- The use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
- Definition and classification of hazardous substances
- Understanding Material Safety Data Sheets
- Management of spillages
- The need for safe use and storage
